EIF is a non-profit 501©(3) 46-1490504 established in 2013. It’s a powerful Basketball Camp from 8:30am - 3:30pm by offering the fundamentals of sports education and training, physical fitness education and training (including nutrition, physical exercise, and lessons in wellness), as well as participation in individual and team sports to assist children, teens, and troubled youth become better more responsible, and civilized people. Our goal, through fundamentals of healthy habits and lifestyles, to learn and develop the fundamentals of self-esteem, self-respect, and self-confidence, to learn and develop the fundamentals of fair play and self-discipline, and to learn and develop the fundamentals of respect for others.
In 2017, the camp went from a 3-day to a 4-day at the Nanakuli High School gym. By invitation only, 40 rising female youth in grades 9-11 was invited. Our aim, to provide an opportunity to sharpen performance necessary to play in college with hopes of a greater beyond.
Spearheading our camp is Coach Dave Taylor, a former D-1 coach who has national exposure in running camps. His expertise is in evaluating and mentoring players; in fact, many go on to become players in the NBA and in oversee leagues. We also have onsite nationally certified athletic trainer and state licensed in Hawaii Dr. Portia Resnick providing exceptional sports medic care. She is First Aid and CPR certified and a certified instructor. She comes with over 20 years of experience working with athletes at the High School level, collegiate (NCAA DIV 1 & DIV 3) and professional levels.
EIF started as a FREE camp. (However, some candidates pre-registered but did a “no show,” leaving valuable spots empty.) Now, for the current nominal fee of $50 (most camps/clinics run $350-$500) each player receives a jersey, lunch meals, a take-home snack, as well as water & Gatorade throughout the day and, of course, invaluable coaching, elite training, and resume-building experience. We are extremely thankful for our past sponsorships and have experienced a decline within the recent years.
